Sankara College of Science and Commerce has conducted one day basic training programme on “Human Rights” in collaboration with National Human Rights Commission, Govt. of India on 27.09.2019 by the chief guests Mr.J.V.Raj, District Judge, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, Coimbatore, Mr.V.P.Sarathi, Chairperson, Coimbatore Human Rights Forum (CHRF), Coimbatore, Mrs.DivyaChandran, Advocate, Coimbatore and Mr.D.V.VijayKuamr, Project Director, Natioanl Child Labour Project, Coimbatore. The function commenced with the prayer song and lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. Dr.H.Balakrishnan, Principal of Sankara college of Science and Commerce welcomed the gathering.
The Chief Guest Mr.J.V.Raj, District Judge, Ministry of Finance, stressed on the concept of Human Rights and its role in the overall development of an individual. He highlighted how the dignity of an individual is one of the most important factor of Human Rights. He enriched us with various Human rights and its significance in safeguarding the human dignity and honour. Principal Sir, honoured the chief guests with mementos. The first technical session was headed by the chief guest Mr.V.P.Sarathi, Chairperson, Coimbatore Human Rights Forum (CHRF), Coimbatore. During the session, he highlighted the aspect of self- assessment and its part in determining and achieving the clarity of what one needs to attain in their life. He enlightened us with his sparkling ideas with regards to the society and how Human Rights is an inherent one where each individual have social responsibility of respecting others and maintain their dignity.
The second technical session was headed by the guest of honour Mrs.Divya Chandran, Advocate, Coimbatore. She enlightened us with her motivational words about the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women ( CEDAW) and its impact to eliminate all acts of discrimination against Women by persons, organizations or enterprises. She stressed on how these laws legally binds all state parties to fulfill, protect and respect Women Rights. The third technical session was presided by Mr.D.V.VijayKuamr, Project Director, Natioanl Child Labour Project, Coimbatore. During his session, he emphasized the significance of Child Labour Protection Act and how these act protect the rights of children and prevent them from any physical and mental degradation in every walks of life. Mr.S.Bernard Edward, Vice Principal and Dr.V. Radhika, Dean of Academics, SANSAC has showered their blessings for this auspicious event. Feedbacks were given by the participants followed by the sessions. Certificates were distributed to all the participants. Dr.PriyaKalyanasundaram, HoD, MBA proposed the vote of thanks to the dignitaries and the spectators with a sign of gratitude. The function closed with the National Anthem.
